Uşak carpets are legendary; from Ottoman palaces to European castles, from mosques to churches... (Usak carpets counted as a sign of prestige in European cathedrals and royal castles between the 15th and 18th centuries. In the same period, Uşak carpets specially knotted for the seraglio of the Topkapi Palace, decorated the Blue Mosque as well as the mosques Suleymaniye, Beyazit, Selimiye and Fatih.)

There is a story hidden in each motif...Sometimes it's told through a sun, sometimes through a star...Maybe it expresses affliction through a bird hidden in the motif or the story is hidden in a flowering branch... (Uşak carpets can be classified in six main groups in terms of their motif and composition properties: Medallion (rosette) Uşak Carpets, Star Uşak Carpets, Uşak Carpets with White Fields, Uşak Bird Carpets, Uşak Carpets with Post Motifs, Uşak Quintamani Carpets)

In every knot it tells what the mouth cannot say. It is finest handwork, toilsomely crafted by the sweat of their crafters brow and it is their honor...This is why it is so precious, so priceless... (The Europeans admired Uşak carpets throughout the 15th - 18th centuries and called them "Eastern Luxury" because of their expensiveness and rarity.)

Who couldn’t resist the magic of the Uşak Carpet? Who couldn’t resist its beauty?
(Uşak carpets have been depicted by many European painters in their paintings of famous persons and rich merchants. Hans Holbein, Carlo Crivelli, Lorenzo Lotto, Albrecht Dürer, Vittore Carpaccio, Van Dycke, Hans Memling, Gentile and Giovanni Bellini are the most famous of European painters, who included Turkish carpets in their paintings. Particularly Holbein and Lotte are the most important painters, who depicted our carpets.)

Because Uşak Carpets were a real story, read out of their motifs; a real extraction of life, hiding sorrow; a real masterpiece, expressing the Anatolian woman's pain, her happiness, excitement, joy, hopes and dreams... (The popularity of the Uşak Carpet in Europe lasted until World War I. During the War of Independence, trade activities with Europe decreased and as a result Uşak carpets were not marketed to Europe any more. After this period, the Uşak Carpet was referred to as a museum and auction carpet, which was exhibited in the world's outstanding museums and dearly sold  to collectors in famous auction halls.)

This is why it never lost its value, although centuries have passed...This is why Uşak Carpets are the most precious masterpieces of the world's important museums...
(Today, Uşak Carpets are exhibited in such outstanding museums as the Louvre in Paris, Bardini Museum in Florence, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Victoria and Albert Museum in London, National Gallery of Art in Washington, National Museum in Budapest, Museum of Islamic Art in Berlin, Metropolitan Kuwait National Museum, Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum in Istanbul, Foundation Carpet Museum in Istanbul and the Mevlana Museum in Konya. Furthermore, examples of the Uşak Carpets can be found in various private collections.

To keep this value alive was the reason why Avsar Wool's story began...These knots, tied into history, will come to life today with Avsar Wool's yarn for hand-made carpets...It was this dream that made Avsar Wool start this journey...And it is this belief that leads this company to success...
